Triple Tigers recording artist Scotty McCreery, though a happily married father, dives deep into the emotional realms with his latest track Lonely, released today from his forthcoming album Rise and Fall. This track marks the final release before the album officially drops on May 10.

The Making of Lonely

Scotty McCreery shares his enthusiasm for traditional country music themes, stating, “I love a good heartbreak, honky-tonk country song, and Lonely is definitely that.” The song was penned by McCreery alongside collaborators Brent Anderson, Derek George, Frank Rogers, Bobby Hamrick, Jeremy Bussey, and Monty Criswell. The creation took place in an inspiring setting—McCreery’s back porch in the mountains of North Carolina, making it a memorable experience. McCreery adds, “This song is so much fun to perform live and have the audience sing along with us. I’ve had a lot of requests from fans who’ve heard this song on the road to put it out on streaming. Here you go!”

Story Behind the Lyrics of Lonely

Lonely is described as a dark, dusky two-stepper filled with heartbreak. Set against the backdrop of a late-night bar scene, the song narrates a story of a man trying to forget his sorrows with the help of friends and the lively bar atmosphere:

Friends on the jukebox and friends wall to wall

Dimes on the dance floor and cheap alcohol

Round after round, we’re all having a ball

I guess lonely ain’t lonely after all

No lonely ain’t lonely after all
