RootsnRevelry Review
Midnight Rider is a beautiful testament to Eddie Flint’s surgeon-like ability to craft a narrative and lace it with heartfelt melody. Instrumentally, the track is smart and bold, stripped down to just an acoustic guitar and stand-up bass. Flint leaves space for his voice, allowing the weight of his words to be felt. Heavily influenced by the Allman Brothers, it almost feels like a somber sequel to Ramblin’ Man. Flint details his trials and tribulations, loneliness, wandering, and the devastating loss of his father. The song is brutally honest and melancholic, offering little resolution—much like life at times.
Midnight Rider is another accolade under Flint’s belt, marking a significant step towards stardom for one of the genre’s brightest new talents.
