UK Country sensations First Time Flyers have released their much-anticipated new single, Jump, on June 28th, ahead of their 2024 headline tour. The song, written at their North London studio, explores the theme of courageously embracing love despite potential risks. With its infectious energy, Jump encourages listeners to embrace love wholeheartedly, regardless of the risks involved.
The inspiration behind the single comes from personal stories within the band, particularly Vicki Manser’s journey to finding love. After ending an unhappy engagement, she found true happiness with her now-fiancée despite her family’s initial reservations.
In addition to the new single, First Time Flyers have announced the Jump On Tour Part One headline tour, set to kick off in September 2024. With three live shows lined up in Birmingham, London, and Manchester, fans will have the chance to experience the band’s energetic performance up close. For more details and ticket information, visit Bandsintown or the band’s official website.
Collaboration and Production
Musically, the single pulls from influences like Dasha’s Austin and Texas Hold Em. The band, including guitarist and vocalist Jake Morrell, wanted to integrate these sounds into their UK Country style, bringing something new to their audience.
The band recorded Jump at their North London studio. Tim Prottey-Jones led the production, ensuring the single’s energetic feel. The song was designed to be short but impactful, lasting just 2 minutes and 10 seconds. The new single was released by Lookout Mountain Records.
During the video shoot at Champneys health resort, the band faced muddy conditions but made it work. Vicki’s students from musical theatre colleges participated in the video, learning and performing the Jump dance routine. The dance adds a fun and engaging aspect to the video and song. Band member Poppy Fardell hopes the fans themselves “…will have learnt the Jump dance routine by September so that will just add to the fun!”
