Josiah and the Bonnevilles released their latest EP, by the creek, a soul-stirring collection that revisits two of the artist’s most beloved tracks.

This intimate acoustic set, featuring Ghost (by the creek) and Blood Moon (by the creek), offers a fresh, raw take on the songs that have captivated listeners worldwide, amassing over 55 million listens on Spotify for their original studio versions.

Recorded outdoors, live in the serene ambiance of a flowing creek, Josiah Leming, the East Tennessee troubadour behind Josiah and the Bonnevilles, delivers heartfelt YouTube renditions with nothing but an acoustic guitar and the wistful sounds of a harmonica rack.

These stripped-down versions peel back the layers, allowing the emotive lyrics and Leming’s raspy voice to shine through, reminiscent of roots music’s authentic storytelling tradition.

As Josiah and the Bonnevilles continue their epic Endurance Tour, marking Leming’s first headlining journey of over 100 nearly sold-out performances in 2024, fans have already witnessed a landmark moment with his largest headlining show to date at the Gothic Theatre, playing to an audience of over 1000 people.

The tour’s name proves fitting as Leming’s career embodies the spirit of endurance. Hailing from Morristown, Tennessee, he famously dropped out of high school at 17 to pursue his musical dreams, a decision that led him to crisscross the country, playing shows out of his car.

This journey eventually took him to Atlanta, where he auditioned for American Idol in 2008. The combination of his success on the show and the widespread popularity of a viral video featuring him singing One Last Song while playing the piano in his parents’ basement before “Hollywood Week” captured the hearts of viewers across the country, leading to a coveted record deal with Warner Brothers.

Despite the challenging chapter with Warner Brothers that followed, which inspired the song Six Dollar Check, Leming’s resolve never wavered.

In his mid-20s, Leming formed Josiah & the Bonnevilles, securing a residency gig in Los Angeles that was instrumental in honing their sound. This period of artistic growth culminated in their first EP, Cold Blood, released by Vagrant Records in 2016, followed by their debut album On Trial in 2018. Although Josiah is a solo act, he has always felt a deep bond with his fans, declaring, “You are the Bonnevilles, and I will give you everything I’ve got.”

His meteoric rise since returning to full-time live music in 2023 is a testament to his talent and the deep connection he shares with his audience.

The upcoming milestones for Josiah Leming are nothing short of a dream come true. His Opry debut is set for April 13, 2024, a significant nod to his roots and a testament to his unwavering dedication to his craft.

Additionally, Leming is scheduled to grace the stage at Bonnaroo on Saturday, June 15, 2024, promising to be an unforgettable experience for both the artist and his fans, affectionately known as the Bonnevilles.

The by the creek EP is not just a set of songs; it’s an experience that invites listeners into Leming’s world, where the simplicity of nature and the complexity of human emotion intertwine.

It’s a reminder of the power of music to connect us to our surroundings and to each other.

Stay tuned for upcoming tour dates and announcements. As Leming continues to captivate audiences and reach new milestones, his journey is a beacon of inspiration, proving that with passion and endurance, dreams can indeed become reality.

Join us here at RootsnRevelry as we follow Josiah and the Bonnevilles’ remarkable ascent in the roots music scene. Be sure to catch him on the remainder of the Endurance Tour, his Opry debut, and his first Bonnaroo appearance.

With an artist as dedicated and genuine as Leming, the roots of his music are sure to flourish and continue to enchant listeners for years to come.
